After fifty years of publishing very good books, we know better than anyone that Canada is filled with incredible writing talent. Even so, we were absolutely blown away by the quality of the stories we received from the 75 writers who entered our Golden Anniversary Short Story Contest.
After careful deliberation (not to mention a few passionate stand-offs among the editorial team!) we are proud to announce the winner of the Anansi Golden Anniversary Short Story Contest.

Fluidity

“Fluidity” tells the story of a couple coming to grips with a new reality when the husband reveals a lifelong secret about his identity on the eve of their 50th wedding anniversary.
Kelly S. Thompson, based in Trenton, Ontario, is the 2013 winner of the Barbara Novak Writing Award for Excellence in Personal Essay for her essay, “We Are a (Military) Family.” Kelly also won the Regional Volunteer of the Year award for 2014 for her work as President of the Professional Writers Association of Canada Vancouver Chapter. Kelly is represented by Stephanie Sinclair at Transatlantic Agency.
