We’ve noticed a rise in scammers impersonating House of Anansi Press and Groundwood Books staff to target authors and illustrators.

These scammers have contacted creators via email and social media. Their messages often seem genuine. They may even appear to have an in-depth knowledge of a creator's background or previous projects. Please remain vigilant. The purpose of these scams is to build trust with a target so they’ll be more likely to share personal and financial information, and many scammers are using AI to conduct these conversations. We will never request payment in exchange for publication or promotion of your work.
