Mnoomin maan'gowing / The Gift of Mnoomin read by Mary Ann Corbiere

Today (June 21) is Indigenous Peoples Day!

To celebrate, we'd like to share this special recording of Mnoomin maan'gowing The Gift of Mnoomin translator Mary Ann Corbiere reading a few pages of the book in Anishinaabemowin

Written by Brittany Luby and illustrated by Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley, this poetic picture book explores the circle of life, beginning with a small mnoomin seed. As a child holds the seed in their hands, they imagine all the life that made a single seed possible—Mayfly, Pike, Muskrat, Eagle and Moose, all had a part to play in bringing the seed into being.
