Mnoomin maan'gowing / The Gift of Mnoomin read by Mary Ann Corbiere
Today (June 21) is Indigenous Peoples Day!
To celebrate, we'd like to share this special recording of Mnoomin maan'gowing / The Gift of Mnoomin translator Mary Ann Corbiere reading a few pages of the book in Anishinaabemowin.
Written by Brittany Luby and illustrated by Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley, this poetic picture book explores the circle of life, beginning with a small mnoomin seed. As a child holds the seed in their hands, they imagine all the life that made a single seed possible—Mayfly, Pike, Muskrat, Eagle and Moose, all had a part to play in bringing the seed into being.
